ECOWAS condolence on the flood disaster and fuel station fire in Accra, Ghana

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, is deeply saddened by Wednesday, 03, June, 2015 explosion at a filling station (GOIL) near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra in which hundreds of deaths were recorded, several injured while numerous houses, shops and other properties running into millions of Cedis were destroyed.

ECOWAS extends its heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana for the great loss.

ECOWAS commends the ongoing rescue operation by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and its efforts to provide support and assistance to the survivors of this disaster. ECOWAS calls on all relevant National and International Agencies in Ghana for solidarity and coordinated efforts aimed at ameliorating the effect of this disaster.
